Gin

The gin is a distillate born in Holland that has found its identity in England. It is a distillate produced through raw materials like grain and Rye where some plants and spices macerate, called Botalicals. Juniper is the most used and characterizes the flavor and the perfumes. Today it is produced in more varieties, and it is generally divided in different typologies like Jenever or “Dutch Gin”, London Dry, Old Tom, Plymouth, Sloe and New American or International style (we have already talked about it in our Blog; click here to read all).

Originally the gin was produced as a medicament by a Dutch doctor, who created this distillate putting in infusion in alcohol Juniper oil. Later, once in England, some experimentation started with the direct infusion of berries in alcohol together with other ingredients giving birth to the London Dry (it is not a kind of denomination of origin). This gin is living today a new Renaissance with productions proposed from all over the world

With different botanical herbs and techniques. The style of the London Dry is characterized by a secondary distillation after the infusion of the botanical herbs. This process makes it particularly dry (that’s way “dry”).Ideal for aperitif, perfect also smooth. Used every day by Barman and mixologists. The gin is a distillate suitable for the preparation of cocktails like Gin Tonic, Gin Fizz, Negroni, Gin Lemon a more over.
