Franciacorta

Franciacorta is one of the most important production regions of Classic Method sparkling wines in Italy, the elegance and freshness of its wines is now certified nationally and internationally. It is a region with an ancient wine production (the first document found on land properties dates back to 766) that went beyond mere family consumption already in 1800, as evidenced by the Napoleonic Cadastre, which certifies over a thousand hectares of specialized production in viticulture, well beyond the family consumption of the 40,000 inhabitants of the time.

Franciacorta is a region that extends close to Lake Iseo, over an extension of 200 square kilometers, in 19 municipalities in the province of Brescia. The peculiarity of the area consists in the morainic nature of its land, in an area previously composed of glaciers, which melted 10 thousand years ago. The production is renowned for creating classic method sparkling wines among the finest in Italy.

A Franciacorta sparkling wine can be produced starting from the Chardonnay vines, which represent the true soul of the sparkling wine, grown in about 80% of the vineyards, Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco and, starting from 2017 it was included in the Franciacorta DOCG disciplinary also Erbamat, an ancient vine in danger of extinction, which can compose up to 10% of the cuvée, a vine that the producers have managed to recover and enhance, testifying the desire to always express an authentic identity.
