Natural & Organic Wines

Biodynamic, organic and natural wines are the most authentic expressions of the farming traditions of that area; they often embody the role of rescuers of traditions, ancient knowledge and unique practices, sometimes threatened by the advent of new technologies and modernity, of "all and now". The producers of these natural wines ban synthetic chemical products from their vineyards, from pesticides to herbicides, in order to focus more and more on the recovery and enhancement of ancient methods that have sometimes been abandoned, growing indigenous vines that represent that territory and raising them with the traditional systems of our grandparents.

In this wineshop you can enjoy a vast selection of over 400 biodynamic, organic and natural wines from representative producers from all regions of Italy and beyond, from the various Radoar, Lieselehof or Limina Giuliano Micheletti of Trentino Alto Adige, Giovanni Menti and Casa Belfi from Veneto, Skerk and Podversic from Friuli, Castello di Verduno from Piedmont, Cappella Sant'Andrea and Campinuovi from Tuscany, and I VigneriSalvatore D'Amico and Baroni di Pianogrillo from Sicily.

Natural, organic and biodynamic wines are in some ways similar but are not synonymous; let's try to clarify.

Natural wines

Natural wines are produced from grapes grown in vineyards where organic or green fertilizers, such as green manure, are used, employing only natural substances such as copper and sulphur, while in the cellar fermentation takes place spontaneously with the indigenous yeasts present in the grapes, without forcing or filtering, to age in barrels according to tradition. Natural wines do not have their own official certification, but many producers have joined associations such as “Vinnatur”, in which they set limits to obtain acknowledgement. Natural wines are often also organic or biodynamic.

Organic wines

Organic wines are made from grapes grown without any added chemicals or GMOs. Unlike biodynamic and natural wines, they have their own official EU legislation and are represented by the green leaf logo.

Biodynamic wines

Biodynamic wines share many of the principles of organic farming, like the balance and sustainability of the earth, but are based on philosophical concepts like vital energy and cosmic forces, considering the soil and the life that develops on it as a single system. The biodynamically cultivated vines are fertilised with their own biodynamic products, and the different stages in the vineyard and winery are ruled by the different phases of the moon.

Biodynamic, organic and natural wines generate authentic expressions, always typical and characteristic, sometimes bold and straightforward, other times more immediate, but always capable of exciting.
